There are many ways you can help America’s wounded warriors and their caregivers.
Support HOW with a Financial Contribution
We help families make ends meet, help soldiers call home while fighting for their lives in a hospital bed, help caregivers find the resources they need, help focus public and government attention on those that can be forgotten, help wounded warriors regain a life of hope and happiness, but we can only accomplish all this with the help of people like you.
Become a Caregiver Coach
Are you resourceful, organized, persistent and have a strong desire to help others? You’d be a great asset helping families navigate the new world in which they find themselves.
Adopt a Local Family
Active in a local group? Organize them to get involved. This can be done through any fraternal or charitable organization such as the Lion’s Club, Elks, Kiwanis, VFW, American Legion, etc. You can assist them financially and/or with volunteer services such as travel, household or garden chores, scholarships, vacation opportunities or other needs they specify.
Volunteer at a Military Hospital or VA Facility
Often, these patients are far from family and friends. Volunteers can visit and talk with patients, read to them, tell jokes, tell stories and histories, find common interests, etc. Ask the VA/hospital staff – they’ve always got a list of things they need help with.
